Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is an endodontic therapy we may recommend if a tooth is infected or decayed in the dental pulp and tooth nerves. The dental pulp, which is the innermost layer of the tooth, may become infected if decay or damage reaches past the outer layers of the tooth. When left untreated, infection in the dental pulp can eventually cause the tooth to die, requiring extraction. Through root canal treatment, we can save the tooth and restore your oral health. In addition, root canal treatment can prevent the infection from spreading to other areas of your smile. Root canal treatment involves removing the infected tissues from the tooth, including the dental pulp and tooth nerves. Our gentle dentist will then clean the tooth and fill it with a special medicated material. To restore the structure and shape of the tooth, Dr. Kim will cap with it with a crown or filling. We can typically complete a root canal in just one or two comfortable visits to our office.

If you suffer from persistent tooth pain, extreme tooth sensitivity, or tender, swollen gums, you may benefit from root canal treatment. We welcome you to contact us today at Taunton Oral Health for more information.
